Dr Dijana Metlić is a Professor of Art History at the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad. She has written four books among them Stanley Kubrick between Painting and Film (Belgrade: Film Centre Serbia, 2013 and the second edition 2022), based on her PhD thesis. Before entering university, she worked as programe coordinator at FEST from 2007 until 2014.
She has authored many papers in film theory and art history and the following essays in the fields of Kubrick studies: “Unmasking the Society: Use of Masks in Kubrickʼs Films” (Cinergie - Il Cinema E Le Altre Arti); “Stanley Kubrick and Hieronymus Bosch: In the Garden of Earthly Delights” (Essais: Revue interdisciplinaire d’Humanités, Hors-série 4, (2018), “Stanley Kubrick and Art,” in The Bloomsbury Companion to Stanley Kubrick, edited by Nathan Abrams and I. Q. Hunter, (New York: Bloomsbury Academic, 2021). Her co-edited volume on Gender, Power, and Identity in the Films of Stanley Kubrick (with Karen A. Ritzenhoff and Jeremi Szaniawski) is published in 2023 with Routledge. Her primary area of research is modern art, with a particular focus on the interrelations between film, photography and fine arts.
