As journalist and movie critic Michelangelo Messina has a film column in the Italian newspaper “Il Dispari” and occasionally collaborates with various Italian cinema weekly. Author of books: “Cinema in the islands of the Gulf of Naples”, “From Cleopatra to my brilliant friend”, “Ischia, the movie island”.
As Location Manager and production director Michelangelo Messina has worked with directors such as the Oscar winner Anthony Minghella, the French director Benouit Jacqueot, with Italians directors: Leonardo Pieraccioni, Carlo Vanzina, Michele Massimo Tarantini, Claudio Capone, Paolo Castello, Gabriele Muccino.
Since 2003 is the founder and artistic director of the Ischia Film Festival, an international film festival dedicated to the cultural diversification of lands through audiovisual works.
In 2001 creates the project “Cinema and Territory” for the dialogue between audiovisual productions and territory, in 2005 with Italian and International colleagues founds the permanent scientific observatory on Movie tourism (Currently Senior president). Since 2005 begins studies on film tourism film that will lead him to report the phenomenon around the world as speaker in the international conferences on Movie induced tourism: Hong Kong, Malaga, Shangai, Leeds, Mons, Seville, Malaga, and at the Bafta in London. Since 2007 he is a member of AFIC the board of Italian Film Festivals Association. In 2009 Promotes and collaborates with Italian School Minister to create the first education courses on “Movie Tourism and location management”.
Expert in territorial marketing and audiovisual works collaborates with different Italian universities thanks to scientific data collected over this years on the phenomenon of Movie Tourism in the world.
