KÔJI FUKADA
Kôji Fukada (1980,Tokyo) attended Faculty of Literature at Taisho University and began taking classes in filmmaking at the same time at Film School of Tokyo in 1999. He made Hospitalité (2010) and Au revoir l’été (2013) and his Harmonium (2016) won the Jury Award in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. Fukada made The Man from the Sea (2018) shot in Indonesia. His feature A Girl Missing (2019) is selected at Locarno Film Festival.
Reveiws:
The knife-edge turns, navigated deftly by both director and cast, are what make it really tick (...) Fukada’s best trick is to undercut the heightened emotions with cold, disinterested reality.
Lovia Gyarkye, The Hollywood Reporter
An enormously poignant melodrama told at the volume of a broken whisper, Love Life represents a major breakthrough for a filmmaker who’s found the perfect story for his probing style.
