TODD FIELD

Todd Field (1964) began his career as an actor, garnering a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for Ruby In Paradise (1993) and Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut (1999), before transitioning to writing and directing. Among his short films are Too Romantic (1992), When I Was A Boy (1993), and Nonnie & Alex (1995), winner of the American Film Institute and a Sundance Film Festival where it received a Special Jury Prize. His critically acclaimed feature debut, In The Bedroom (2001), was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, and Field won a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. He received a second Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination for his second film, Little Children (2006).

Reveiws:

Cate Blanchett is at the peak of her powers in Tár, a magnificent cinematic symphony.

Justin Chang, Los Angeles Times

Field emerged as a fully formed filmmaking talent in 2001 (...) But his long-awaited third feature is something else entirely - a significant leap in maturity, control and confidence that takes risks at every step.

David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

One of the most exciting American films in years (...) Field has come back to us with a savage yet acutely sincere character study that’s slathered in a million shades of gray.

David Ehrlich, IndieWire
