The latest film of the French filmmaker François Ozon, the crime drama ‘The Crime Is Mine’ (Mon crime) will open the 51st FEST. It is the international premiere of a film by one of the most important European directors of his generation, which the Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to see before the French one, since it will only be released in cinemas there on 8 March.
François Ozon's previous film, ‘Peter von Kant’, opened the 2022 Berlin Film Festival.
The main characters in ‘The Crime Is Mine’ are played by the young hopefuls of French cinema, Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Rebecca Marder, side by side with famous colleagues Isabelle Huppert, Fabrice Luchini, Dany Boon and Andre Dussollier.
According to François Ozon, the film is essentially a story about the ‘triumph of sisterhood’ and a kind of tribute to the works of Jean Renoir, François Truffaut, Ernst Lubitsch and Frank Capra, especially the American romantic comedies of the 1930s.
‘I was also influenced by the American portrayal of Paris at that time, such as the film “Victor/Victoria” by Blake Edwards,’ said Ozon.
The character of Isabelle Huppert was inspired by the actress Sarah Bernhardt.
This is the 23rd feature film by François Ozon, whose films are often a part of the FEST programme, such as ‘Everything Went Fine’ (Tout s'est bien passé; 2021), ‘By the Grace of God’ (Grâce à Dieu; 2018), ‘Double Lover’ (L'Amant double; 2017), ‘Frantz’ (2016), ‘The New Girlfriend’ (Une nouvelle amie; 2014), ‘Young and Beautiful’ (Jeune et jolie; 2013), ‘Swimming Pool’ (2003), ‘8 Women’ (8 femmes; 2002), etc.
The screening of the film will take place on 24 February at 7.30 p.m. in Mts Hall.
